Here’s the vlog version of this blog post

Hello my dear friend, I can’t believe it has taken me 8 years to write this to you. If you’re one of my original readers, thank you for sticking around (or for finding your way back!). If you’re new here, welcome.

For the benefit of those who don’t know me or my origin story, let me re-introduce myself. Hi, I’m Morenike Gbadamosi, and this little corner of the world wide web is where Thoughts Paper Scissors was birthed.

‎What is Thoughts Paper Scissors (TPS) and why does any of this matter? Good question.

‎Thoughts Paper Scissors started as a blog to help me navigate a time in my life where I was feeling unfulfilled in my creative journey. Armed with Graphic Design & Branding degrees, I was working a job at one of the top advertising agencies in Lagos, Nigeria but I felt like I’d hit a creative drought. Drowning in a sea of never ending deadlines, meetings, pitches and office politics, I became restless and I felt there was more to my creative life than this.

‎The birth of this Thoughts Paper Scissors blog was the divine lifeline I needed. I embarked on this journey to start paper crafting as a hobby. I was teaching myself and documenting it here to keep me accountable.

‎Little did I know this blog would be the anchor that would see me through major surgery, losing my job, the passing of my father and ultimately it’s evolution into a full time business with all the complexities that come with running a venture, as a naive creative especially in Nigeria.

‎As the business took off, the blog took a backseat, which is why this post has been 8 years in the making. 8 years of facing and overcoming challenges,  exhilarating highs and some really low lows. 8 years of mental, intellectual & spiritual growth, forging new relationships and full reliance on God.

‎At Thoughts Paper Scissors I produce custom handmade products like cake toppers, greeting cards and decorations for events. Some of the major highlights of the last 8 years were having my skills challenged and stretched  especially when working with some of the top bakeries in Lagos where we collaborated to craft custom cake topper designs for various dignitaries and celebrities.  I have also had the privilege to work with some event decorators and private establishments to create decorative paper crafts.  I also created a number of bespoke birthday cards for some dignitaries.

‎Remarkably, 8 is also the number of new beginnings and it just so happens that Thoughts Paper Scissors is at the start of a new chapter. For a number of years now that same restlessness I felt when I was in advertising returned and I knew something had to change once again 😆.

‎So my dear friend, going forward Thoughts Paper Scissors has started its evolution into an education platform. I aim to share my knowledge and experiences from my creative journey and also hopefully pass on some of my creative skills to upcoming crafters.

‎This is all new to me and I’m still working out the modalities so please bear with me as I figure this out. I am announcing this now so I stop procrastinating and start to putting action behind my thoughts.

‎If you are interested in how this next phase of my journey goes, I aim to create frequent posts of tips on entrepreneurship, faith, craft techniques and who knows what else at this point. I’m so excited to share all I’ve learned and build this new chapter with you.

‎If any of this resonates with you, kindly subscribe to my newsletter below. Or if you know a creative person or an aspiring crafter who you think may benefit from what I intend to share do share this post with them.

‎Anyway enough about me, I am interested in getting to know you. Drop a comment or reply to this with what topic you would like me to talk about in my next post. What are your biggest crafting questions right now? Or just drop a hello 👋🏾 I can’t wait to hear from you! See you soon!
